Not a disappointment!, February 23, 2010 By A Mom (Bear, DE) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kenmore Canister Vacuum, Intuition (Kitchen) Just bought this vacuum today after my Kenmore of 9 years stopped working. I tried it out when I got home and am very pleased! We have a combination of berber carpet, medium length carpet, and hardwood/linoleum. The lady at the store told me this was the "top of the line for Kenmore canisters." I asked what the difference was between "top of the line" and the next level down. This one has the detachable vacuum-head for barefloors, longer cord, longer hose and a swivel head.
I love that the cord is extra long (30 feet). It reaches further than my old vacuum. When I turned on the vacuum, it almost felt like a self-propelled vacuum. On the berber and hardwood, it was very easy to push/pull. I've read another review where they said it didn't push so well on the carpet. On our medium carpet, I put it on low-carpet setting only because I like to think it's cleaning deeper. It did require more effort to push it like that. I still have my first one which is very heavy but has the best suction of all three. The hose is all taped up and I can use my accessories from my second vac. This new vacuum is lighter, quieter and has an extending pole so I don't have to bend over as much when vacuuming. The problem is the detachable piece for hardwood floors. It doesn't have great suction and it constatly flips up and I have to push it back down to the floor with my foot so it will be closer to the floor. I think the concept is great but it doesn't clean my hardwood floors as well as the first 2 vacuums. I also don't like the small wheels on the detachable piece to clean hardwood floors. They constantly keep the piece elevated just enough so it doesn't get that close to the floor and it tips back and forth. The vacuum in general is a good size but when you try to pull it around it smashes into furniture or into walls. My husband... Read more

Worked Great But Didn't Last, September 18, 2010 This review is from: Kenmore Canister Vacuum, Intuition (Kitchen) I bought this Kenmore vacuum less than 2 years ago largely because of it's high rating in Consumer Reports. I was particularly sold on the vacuum's ability to handle pet hair as we had 2 dogs and 2 cats. In the beginning, this vacuum worked as well as I expected. It was amazing on pet hair. Within 11 months, though, the cord had separated from the handle and the vacuum had to return for repairs under warranty. The tool cover, which is made of fairly lightweight plastic, also sheared a plastic pin on one side and no longer stayed closed. Within a month after being repaired, the power brush began to work intermittently, seeming to have a poor connection. It stopped working altogether after I'd had the vacuum only a year (and just after the warranty expired!). I continued to use this vacuum with the floor attachment for another 10 months, but the cord has again separated from the handle, the cord rewind isn't working reliably and I'm currently looking for a new machine.
